Los Angeles Poverty Department
Los Angeles Poverty Department

Emediacy is proud to work together with the Los Angeles Poverty Department in creating and maintaining their web site. A theater-without-walls for people living in Los Angeles’ inner city, L.A.P.D. partners with communities and arts organizations across the United States to create powerful original performance works that speak to a range of political issues.
L.A.P.D. uses theater, together with other means of public education, organizing and activism to call attention to the plight of the poor.

Agents & Assets is a national theater project that gives voice to people whose communities have been most devastated by drugs and addresses issues at the very core of our notions of democracy, civil liberties, and the separation of powers.

RFK in EKY, The Robert F. Kennedy Performance Project, centered around the performance that recreated, on September 9th and 10th 2004, Robert Kennedy’s two-day, 200 mile “poverty tour” of southeastern Kentucky in 1968.

More information about L.A.P.D. and the social and political theatre they create can be found at lapovertydept.org.
